Long Summer

Many thanks to everyone who came to the gigs over the summer and particularly to everyone who said hi or came to workshops. I’ve been desperately slow at putting updates in place, but hopefully now the dust is temporarily settled I will be better able to fix things. Gig highlights include Must Come Down back at the end of July with the fabulous Morris Offspring and Maple Morris, then the epic version of The Transports at Sidmouth Folk Festival. We made the announcement for the new line up of The Albion Band too, and I’m thrilled to be involved in that. A few weeks now until the Canada mini tour, so watch this space for hopefully more updates and news.

Apologies for the slight delay in the monthly updates – February began with a lovely show at Cecil Sharp House, excerpts from which I have slowly been uploading. Following that, I began rehearsing with the new backing band – tentatively named the 5A.M. Saints and featuring the stunning talents of Folk Award Nominee James Raynard (Rackaback, Sam Lee and The Gillie Boys) on fiddle and vocals, Young Folk Award finalist Tom Wright (Eliza Carthy Band, PBS6, Park Bench Social Club) on percussion and banjo alongside Tim Yates (the QP, Blackbeard’s Tea Party) on double bass. It is sounding pretty awesome and it is a pleasure to be playing alongside these guys, enabling full album arrangements. Watch this space for news of a first public performance.

February also saw Cheltenham Festival – a favourite of mine, and I was lucky enough to be playing there with newly relaunched Crucible Trio as well as in my own right. Some great shows, some utterly fantastic people and some great late night sings.

Alongside all this I have been busy in the studio working on a new side project, which is set to rear its head in an unconfirmed but thoroughly entertaining form! Keep checking in or follow twitter or facebook updates.

Folk Rising, Camden Town show PART ONE

HI all, I’m just in the process of adding some videos of the Camden Town show I played back at the beginning of February. Only a half hour set, but you shouldsoon be able to watch all the songs from that set online.
